struggling in your business

The Primary Reason you are Struggling in your Business

If I asked you; ‘what is the primary reason you are struggling in your business‘, what would you say?

Some of the most common answers have included — not enough time, lack of people to talk to, finances, etc.

However, what if I told you that it’s more than likely the content you are putting out there …

What if I told you that there are so many businesses online creating content that their audience just isn’t relating to. And in turn, aren’t taking part in be it through purchases or otherwise. Too often, we miss the answers even though they are likely, staring you right in the face.

Your online content should not ALWAYS be about you!

Are you familiar with the saying ‘be the guide not the hero’? See, network marketers are forever on this defence of having to prove themselves. We talk about our struggles to triumph, the things we’ve been able to do and accomplish, and it starts to read like me, me, me and more me!

Sure, you want you audience to know more about you but they’re far more interested in what you can do for them.

Struggling in your Business?

…. stop making it about you!

You’re trying to be their hero but the more you try, the more they push back. If there’s one thing you have to understand it’s this — Remember the push / pull theory… The more you push, the more they pull away.

At the end of the day, take a guess who wants to be the hero in the story, if you think it’s YOU, this where you’re going wrong. The only hero in the story is your client or customer. They want to be the hero. And, they want to impress their clients, their family, their friends, their spouse.

They are the ones who want to feel the success, accomplishment or achievement.

After all the frustration they’ve been through trying to “figure it all out” they want to be the one that shows everyone that“they did it!” This is how you create impact and this is where you empower others. Additionally, this practice relates to every single industry.

Whether it be selling a product or selling a home, your role is to help them attain their want or need. This is why listening and truly hearing the needs of your audience is imperative. Create a narrative or share a story that highlights others successes. And, demonstrate to others that they too, can achieve these same goals.

Stop struggling in your business (due to your ego).

If you think your brand is the hero of the story it’s in, think again.

The hero is your customer.

You and your brand are the guide helping your customer or client achieve success.

So, a great exercise is to have a look at the content you’re putting out online. Ask yourself these questions;

  1. How many times did I use the words ‘I’ or ‘me’?
  2. Is the entire post about what ‘I’ve’ done?
  3. Does the content relate to anyone other than me?
  4. Is it demonstrating how others can grow, achieve, impact or accelerate?
  5. Who is the hero of the content I’m sharing?

Simple shifts in how you share your content, stories, videos or otherwise can make a massive shift for you. Stop struggling in your business because you’re so focused on your highlight reel. Instead, start helping others how you can help them create their own!

Could you use some help identifying where you can make some tweaks in your content marketing? If so, let me know in the comments because, I would love to help you create an impact through the lives of others.
