New Year’s Resolutions for Network Marketers
Another amazing year is coming to a close. Above all else, it has been a privilege to have served our community in 2017 and we are more excited than ever about what is coming in the new year. Which brings us to the topic of New Year’s Resolutions. Now, here is some unfortunate truth; most people who make a resolution based on the new year, fail.
Often, the new year’s resolutions are broken within the first couple weeks – in some cases, a couple days.
We want to help you set the right intentions heading into the new year. And, ensure they are ones that you will hold onto for the months and year ahead.
In real estate, the saying is something like ‘it’s all about location, location, location.’ In business, it is all about connections, connections, connections. More so, how you make those connections is something just about every business person can always improve upon.
The internet and more specifically social media and Facebook have made networking an endless space for people to make new connections. You see, most resolutions read something like ‘I want to make more money this year‘ or, ‘I need to lose weight’. Although these are great intentions – there is little substance behind those goals.
Each year we make personal New Years resolutions for one reason:
We want to change, to be better versions of ourselves.
Business is all about making the right connections and getting the word out about your company, services, and/or products. Advertising and marketing campaigns are only one part of the success equation, and until you are earning your desired income this shouldn’t play a role in the equation. To really make a splash in the business world you need to build a solid network.
One of the most important things to remember when you are networking, is they are people first. And sure, those people may not be right for your business – but you never know who they might lead you to.
New Year’s Resolutions for Network Marketers
Resolution #1 — Plan to Succeed.
This is the time you can revisit your ‘why or ‘your vision‘. Your personal goals and aspirations. Have clarity to why you’re in the network marketing profession. Write your goals on paper or add them to your vision board.
Also, audit yourself. Have a look at where in the past year you spent money on your business. Include this as part of your strategy for your new year’s resolutions.
- Subscriptions or autoships
- Website or Domain fees
- Courses you purchased
- Events you attended
…and anything else really where you spent money on your business. Chances are, you will come across things that you either 1) don’t need 2) aren’t taking advantage of.
Knowing all of this, will not only alleviate some financial wiggle room, but start your new year off with what could be a little budget for something business related you have been holding out on. Basically clean up your business and focus on your purpose with better clarity.
Resolution #2 — Read every day.
There should be no exception to this. Even if this means only 15 minutes – do it. There are stats out there that suggest even those (marketers, advertisers, etc.) who read fifteen (15) minutes a day, can become an expert in their field within two (2) years. So this means, as part of your new year’s resolution, block out this time in your schedule every day. If you can pick a consistent time, this will help you succeed too.

Resolution #3 — Plan your work. Work your plan.
Make it your network marketing New Year’s resolution that you will plan your day before you go to sleep every night. That way, your subconscious will be ready to execute all those tasks when you wake in the morning. Be specific in your plan. We did a post HERE on planning your daily routine.
Because, the routine should be specific from;
.. and so on. The main thing to remember is that you are making a plan you will stick to. Not just for the month of January either. You want to be sure you are part of the 1% when it comes to sticking to your ‘New Year’s Resolution’, right?
Resolution #4 — Break out of old habits.
The start of a new year is the perfect time to shake things up, to do things differently and take a fresh approach. And, you guessed it: it’s the same for network marketers. If you are not ending this year where you would like to be — change, needs to happen.
This is partly why we encourage everyone to audit themselves before anything else. You want an accurate picture of where you are at and where you want to be. That way, you can work backwards to help you achieve the want to be sooner, than later. When we are not honest with ourselves about where our business, teams or organizations are how can we develop realistic goals and strategies?
So, this is the place where you are encouraged to review your business in its entirety. This will help expose where there were difficulties and what areas require change, adjustments, etc. You may find, there are places that the idea simply never worked – and instead of wasting more time on it, you scrap it – table it even.
Overall, we are not here to discourage you from making New Year’s Resolutions. Instead, we want to ensure that these are resolutions you won’t quit on this time next week or the week after. It isn’t going to be easy.
It is however, going to be worth it.
