So, grab a pen and paper to take some notes and be sure to bookmark this post for future reference.
Not all practice makes perfect, right? The right practice makes perfect …
Let’s dive in.
Increase Engagement with these 5 Post Ideas
Let’s get personal. Think about the people (or animals) in your life that mean a lot to you. These are perhaps your children, parents, fur babies or otherwise. When you post content (including images) this does a couple things;
- it’s personable content and helps establish the know, like and trust connection
- this type of content draws almost always, higher engagement
Safely, incorporating these people into your content is a great way to allow people into your world.
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”
The next post idea I believe will help you increase engagement on your social media profiles are ones of encouragement. People use social media in many cases as an outlet; it’s their break from the ‘real’ world, somewhere they can leave the baggage behind and get lost in the world wide web. And, especially in more difficult times, content that helps to lift others spirits is never a bad idea.
Whether this be a quote from you or someone famous — share some perspective, why you’re sharing it and who you hope it will reach. Quotes, are some of the most shared pieces of content online so, add your flavor to it and lift up someone today!
People Love to give their Opinion — Give them the Platform for it
Asking a question to your audience is a great way to increase engagement. See, we know people love to answer them — it’s why polls, quizzes, etc. are great tools online. So, post a generic question (not business related) that people can chime in on. Here are a few examples;
- Do you prefer the mountains or the beach?
- Are you Team Apple or Team Android?
- Would you rather read a book or listen to an audio?
These super simple questions that can be answered with one word can help draw a ton of comments and in turn, bump you up those newsfeeds over and over again. And hey — don’t forget to include which way you’d answer the question too!
Real, Raw and in the Moment
You guessed it! Live video. For the last several years, video continues to dominate the world of engagement. Not only is it a great way to connect with your audience more personably, but it gives them an opportunity to engage with you live and in person.
Naturally, people are curious beings so they want to see what you’re up to, they want to hear what you have to say and quite frankly, they want a look into your world.
I know that video can be tough for a lot of people but step out of your comfort zone and go live. I can say with absolute certainty that you will reach people you weren’t even sure were there or, people who just wanted to feel that little bit closer to you.
Give the people what they want!

Relive those Memories and Repurpose with some Freshness
Do you ever use the memories feature on Facebook? Or the ‘on this day’ on Instagram? These features are PERFECT for giving you a snapshot of content that has performed well in the past. And, the likelihood of it doing well again well, the odds are in your favor.
Make a habit each day to check out those sections on your social media platform of choice. Copy them (avoid sharing them to your page, post it organically) and make any necessary updates or perhaps you want to talk your audience through the memory but this is a great way to increase engagement.
You already know that it did well before so, take advantage of that.
Repurposing content is both a huge time saver and a good indicator that it will thrive again. These are two variables I don’t know about you, but I love being able to control (even loosely).
Lastly, if you would like a done for you content calendar then you will want to check out my Impact Content Calendar.
It contains a 30 day calendar map for ALL your content needs. Can’t ever go wrong with that, right? I look forward to seeing you increase the quality of your content and, increase engagement across your social media platforms.
