How to Overcome Fear of Rejection in your Business

The invisible enemy puts a massive roadblock to business success, also known as the fear of rejection.

There are a few reasons this can be especially difficult for network marketers, and in this blog, I’m going to talk about how you can overcome the fear of rejection to help you propel your business forward.

The following are reasons network marketers end up in fear of rejection stage;


  1. Attached to the outcome
  2. Afraid you are not offering your prospects’ enough.’
  3. Convinced yourself, you can’t do sales, recruiting, etc.
  4. Wrong mindset
  5. Poor planning or lack of strategy
  6. Lack of confidence


Now, I’m sure there are many other reasons (unfortunately), but the above reasons are the most common that I have seen in my own experiences.

How to Overcome Fear of Rejection


So, let’s focus on a few of the most common and how you can overcome them; afraid you’re not offering enough, attached to the outcome and lack of confidence. For tips and strategies on the others, check out some previous blogs that specifically address those obstacles.

You are attached to the outcome.


This is probably the most common of them all!

We get hung up on the word ‘no‘ for whatever reason. But, let me give you an example of something to keep in mind the next time (because it will happen) you hear the word ‘no.’

Reflect on the last time you were at a restaurant, and the waitress/waiter offered you coffee, tea or dessert. Let’s assume in this scenario you answered with ‘no thank you’.

How did the server react?

Did they tell you that you were missing out on the best cake in the world? Or did they get upset and likely decide never to offer coffee, tea or dessert again? No way!

They just kept it moving — and so should you!

You’re afraid you’re not offering your prospects enough


If this is the case for you, then you better think long and hard about why you joined your business in the first place. You can’t build a solid business if you’re not convinced that the products and/or opportunities bring real value to people.

Remember what made you say, ‘this is for me!’?

→What benefits did you see in the products or services?

→What did you find attractive about the business?

When you can answer these questions clearly, this should help you overcome the fear of rejection more easily. But, again, this is primarily because you will realize that you’re offering your prospects what you believe to be one of the best solutions to their needs.

You lack the confidence to push forward.


Confidence is a tough one.

And this was likely something underlying long before network marketing. Please note that this does not mean that you lack confidence in all areas of your life either. However, when we are faced with the possibility of failure or, combined with the reasons mentioned above — it can become much more prevalent in business.

Whenever you think of talking to a prospect, doubts come to mind.

What if they ask you something you don’t know the answer to? If you can’t see yourself answering questions and taking control of the conversation, your fear takes over, and you avoid approaching people in the first place.
